FaceApp: Emergency Blog Post

The trending app going around is FaceApp. The app is two years old and a lot of famous celebrities have used it, and commoners as well. It seems like harmless fun as there has been trends like #OldFaceChallenge, #YoungMeChallenge, and many other trends on social media but the issue is the company that has created FaceApp is a company that has Russian ties and upon further review.

According to a mashable.com review post “In addition to photos generated via the app, FaceApp’s privacy policy statesthat it also collects location information and information about users’ browsing history. “These tools collect information sent by your device or our Service, including the web pages you visit, add-ons, and other information that assists us in improving the Service,” the policy says.

And though it states that “we will not rent or sell your information to third parties outside FaceApp,” it explicitly says that it shares information with “third-party advertising partners,” in order to deliver targeted ads.” It’s very important to say BE.SAFE when using these apps!
